Foursquare Distiller

The fourth generation Master Distiller of Foursquare Rum Distillery, Richard Seale carries on the tradition started by his great grandfather who founded the company in 1926. The distillery produces multiple brands for local and international markets including ESA Field, Doorly’s, Old Brigand, R.L. Seale & Co., The Real McCoy, Foursquare Spiced Rum and assorted special projects including Foursquare Exceptional Cask Selections, which has just joined Altamar’s portfolio in the United States

With an obsessive attention to detail and an inquisitive mind, he has never been afraid to bring change to a conservative industry. He was the driving force behind the new distillery built on the Foursquare site in 1996 where he sought out the finest engineers to build out his ideas. The result was a distillery renowned for its ultra premium rums that is the most modern in the Caribbean. There are closed fermenters for semi-continuous fermentations, vacuum stills, complex pot distillation and experiments with different kinds of wood. Here tradition is respected and innovation adored. Richard was educated at the University of London where he earned two degrees. He lives in St. Philip with his wife and two children.
